My Experiences

Supervisory Role at Schuh

March 2021-Present

My initial role at the company was within sales, where I excelled as one of the top performing sales staff in the Midland Region. I got promoted to a supervisory role in 2022 and have continued this progression as a high quality supervisor. Doing this alongside my degree has given me experiences in time management, whilst gaining real-life experience to go alongside management theory I have studied within my degree.

Voluntary Coach

January 2018 - December 2021

I use my free time to mentor and coach squads in the swimming set up at Rushden Swimming Club. This involves creating sessions that are specific to each swimmer and delivering sessions to over 20 swimmers at a time. A big responsibility of mine is talking to the athletes about their mental and physical wellbeing and advising them based off my expertise on these subjects. I also help at competitions and give advice to swimmers on racing strategies, preparation and post-race feedback too. I think volunteering is a great way to give back to the local community and has allowed me to develop excellent communication and people management skills.

Market Research for OCM Wealth Management

February 2021

I have also completed market research for OCM Wealth Management, a Chartered Financial Planning firm, in a project to secure a sponsorship for one of their elite netball athletes – Summer Artman. I had to complete research into previous and current sponsors within the sport, and then make recommendations on companies that could potentially sponsor her. I then presented this online via Microsoft Teams, to Summer’s Agent directly.

Performance Research: Edward Baxter Swimming

June 2019

Here, I took part in a week’s work experience and lived independently for the week. I showcased versatility through completing two research projects on the effects of dehydration in sport and the effect of body temperature on performance; proving I could work analytically, but also practically by assisting in coaching various abilities of club swimmers, with a team of international level coaches. I was also lucky enough to get an insight into the Loughborough National Centre of swimming's training programme, which aided my research and coaching experiences.
